Five minutes with Letitia

Letitia takes us through her dream day, shares her Saturday night antics and tells us what mystical things blow her mind 🤯

What’s your favourite dessert?

I am a big dessert person so I can’t say I would be faithful to just one dessert but my favourite at the moment is cherry pie 🍒. I bake it myself because I love making art with puff pastry. I sometimes just buy the pastry so I can try out different designs. My second favourite would be ice cream. 🍦

What do you wish you did more of?

I’ve got a lot of hobbies, but I really wish I could just choose one or two hobbies and just do more of those. I’m really impulsive so I’ll switch between different ones all the time. I’m a bit of a Jack of all trades, master of none. I did silversmithing for a while and web development started as a hobby. I started that five or six years ago. My current hobby is gardening but not really out of choice, more because my garden is always overgrown. 🌳

What would the best day of your life be?

If it was just one day, I would just do loads of fun things. So I would have a lie-in, then I’d go to the beach 🏖, I wouldn’t do any work all day and I’d just lay around eating ice cream and chips 🍟. Then I’d go to the cinema and get a takeaway on the way home. The takeaway would be a curry, I love chicken madras 🍛.

What’s your favourite animal?

Probably cats 🐈, I’ve got three. Two of them are twin brothers, we’ve called them Marv and Harry after the sticky bandits in Home Alone. The eldest one is called Nyla. They’re just normal cats, not a fancy breed, one of them is a tortoise shell.

What animal are you most scared of?

Spiders, pretty standard 🕷. I am a little less scared of them now because I keep seeing so many and there’s only so much you can scream 😱.

What would your superhero name be?

I’m a jack of all trades, master of none, so I’d have loads of really weak superpowers. Maybe Mrs everything but bad. 🤣

What do you like to do on Saturday nights?

When I used to live in Manchester there was this Rock bar called Saturns so my boyfriend and I would usually go there. But if we fancy a quiet night we’d get a takeaway and watch a film. I love horror films 👻, my favourite is Drag me to Hell because it’s kind of funny too. I think the guy who made it created Marvel movies too.

What do you like about working at Ocasta?

I love how organised everything is, the project managers really know what’s going on. In my last place, the project managers weren't good at development so I had to take on the role of development project manager. Viktoria’s great she knows everything.

What’s the kindest thing you’ve ever done? 💛

I’ve been a carer my entire life, not by choice but because my parents weren’t very well. I'm still a carer for my mum, it was hard when I was younger as I wasn’t in school a great deal and wouldn’t mix with other kids. Now I see the positives, it taught me good life skills from a young age and this amazing charity would send carers to our home and take me and other kids out for the day so I could meet other young carers too. 👏

What do you find the most interesting?

Science is really cool. I find it weird that things like maths just exist and numbers are just a thing. They say they discovered it but then some people say it was invented. It’s just all very crazy when you think about it. 🤯

What amazes you most about the world?

Science. It’s crazy that we just do stuff like invent rockets 🚀 and I find it weird how we make all this amazing stuff then when people die the knowledge gets passed on and people just pick up where they left off.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Chicken Madras I really love it 😋. I also really love hot water bottles, it kills me in summer as I can’t have one. I would much rather have a hot water bottle on my feet than a blanket.
